Ring route of Orentano

The 20 km of the ring route which, ideally starting from the bell tower of Orentano, after having covered the already indicated section of connection with the Via Francigena that leads to Villa Campanile, joins the latter. Proceeding then in a southerly direction, the route takes us to the town of Galleno, where, once you have left the ancient Francigenous pavement, you continue along the old via Livornese (today via Baldacci) following it until you cross the valley of the Rio di Ponticelli up to Loc. Paduletta where, once you have crossed the stream on the concrete bridge, it joins the Via Vicinale di Novello which will lead you to the Fonte del Leone. In this section there is a variant, given that the section of the source is private (for public use only the last section corresponding to the Rialta local road. route takes us to cross Corte Nardi (asphalt road with low flow) and then enters the local road of Serradrigo (or Serrarigo if you prefer) up to the junction with the stretch that leads us to the Fonte del Sasso. take the via vicinale del Prunello which takes us back to via delle Fontine for a few hundred meters and then take the via vicinale di Bocciolino to the gym. From here along the sidewalk, once you pass the school, you reach the Museum of Orentano and then to close the ring at the Campanile after a little less than 20 km and 5 hours of quiet walk with the possibility of stopping along the way, being Galleno in the middle of this.

The ring identified and marked will allow, starting from the town of Orentano (but also of Villa Campanile, Galleno, Corte Nardi etc ..), to touch the most iconic places in the area, from the Via Francigena and its woods to the sources of the territory (Fonte di Pierdo, del Sasso, del Leone, del Ghiandone…). In addition, the ring feasible on a quiet day's walk also connects places of great historical interest starting from the museum of Orentano, to arrive near the Roman and Etruscan excavations of Bientina (Ponte ai Gini) up to the historic pavement of the Via Francigena in Galleno.
