The "Cresciamo insieme" Park
The History
The history of the rest home in Orentano has its roots in the past decades. It was, in fact, started in the 80's when Don Giovanni Fiaschi was the parish priest. The work was initially sustained with the offerings of the parishioners and of those who had gone from Orentano to Rome to work. However, with the passing of the years, the realization of the structure was interrupted, also and above all because of an unclear destination to give to the building once the works were completed. After many years of suspension of work, in 2010, the Foundation 'Madonna del soccorso' ONLUS was invested to study a solution and a destination for the work. In 2011, after studies and reflections, it was decided to proceed with the construction of the new nursing home for the non-self-sufficient - called 'Our Lady of the Rosary' - which was inaugurated on March 4, 2012 in the presence of His Most Reverend Eminence Card. Raymond L. Burke and the Bishop of the Diocese S. Ecc. Most Rev. Mons. Fausto Tardelli. The facility was then expanded in the year 2018 and currently houses up to 80 seniors in residential and 18 in semi-residential. It is, therefore, a modern, familiar and organized Retirement Home for non-self-sufficient elderly people within which is also established the homonymous Day Care Center for non-self-sufficient elderly people. The RSA is accredited ex LRT 82/2009 and agreed with the ASL Toscana Centro ex DGRT 995/16. The Direction of the structure assigns particular attention to the quality of service provided, the promotion of activities of animation, physiotherapy and relational in order to develop and enhance the residual capacity of the grandparents in all aspects, both physical and psycho-affective. The structure is equipped with internal services such as laundry, ironing and kitchen and has a large outdoor park: Cresciamo Insieme Park with its animals. The Park is also an integral part of the educational and pedagogical planning of the nursery school and kindergarten S. Anna of Orentano always managed by the Foundation. In addition to the Region of Tuscany, the Municipality of Castelfranco di Sotto, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di S. Miniato, the Fondazione Tesi Group and the Fondazione Cattolica assicurazioni have also contributed to its realization.
Welcome to Cresciamo Insieme Park!
The first was a donkey. Then came the goats and three deer donated by the park of Migliarino, piglets found in Santa Croce sull'Arno, pheasants arrived from the zoo of Pistoia. Now they are all in Orentano. The project is called Cresciamo Insieme (Let's grow together) and it is not a zoo. At the rest home in Orentano of the Madonna del Soccorso foundation they were the first to arrive... but not the last! Many animals that keep grandfathers and grandmothers company are here today. The project, supported and financed also by the Tuscany Region and by the CRSM Foundation is now available to the whole population and in particular to the guests of the structure, to children and young people of all ages! In this area there is the Park "Cresciamo Insieme" (Let's grow together) in which are housed, as a large reception center, more than 40 different species of farm animals and pets related both to the activities of the nursing home and to the teaching with the schools of the territory. The park is characterized by the presence of spaces for animals and paths that cross it.
Regulation
In the hope that the visit to the Park is not only a beautiful day for visitors to spend outdoors, but also an opportunity to learn about and observe a small part of the fauna of the Earth, it is appropriate to respect some small rules, in order not to deface the landscape:
- do not feed or disturb the animals.
- do not throw papers, cigarette butts or anything else on the ground
- do not talk loudly and do not run
- do not approach within one meter of the fences
- do not pick up flowers and leaves
- throw waste in the appropriate containers
Remember that differentiating waste, recycling cans, paper, glass and anything else, is a small sign of respect and conservation.
Children must be supervised and accompanied by an adult after receiving adequate information.
The direction declines every responsibility deriving from the non-observance of such rules.
